I'll overwhelm 'legitimate boxer' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua is set to fight Jake Paul in an eight-round contest which will be streamed in real-time on the streaming platform.

Briton Anthony Joshua said he will "stamp all over" the American and "defeat" the American as the pair met personally to promote next month's bout.

Ex two time unified title holder Joshua battles YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, theoretically, a huge mismatch - at Miami arena on 19 December.

Boxer's Mentality

"I'm going to injure his face and hurt his body. My goal is to show my superiority," the British boxer, 35 years old, stated.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's a fighter's mentality.

"I intend to genuinely try to injure him. That's my intention."

Respectful Exchange

In spite of these statements, a composed Anthony Joshua and social media star Paul - usually recognized for his dramatics - exchanged pleasantries and maintained decorum with each other.

Paul rather targeted former Joshua's rival the Cameroonian fighter and described him as "ridiculous" after the Cameroonian declined a bout proposal.

Taking Aim at Fury

Joshua, in the meantime, criticized UK opponent Tyson Fury - and rejected a £1m bet 'The Gypsy King' says he will place on a victory for Paul.

"Jake Paul outshines Fury - he's present here," the boxer said.

"I respect him for that."

Legitimate Fighter

In spite of saying he intends to hurt Jake Paul, Anthony Joshua chose not to comment unfavorably about his rival's fighting skills.

"Jake Paul is a legitimate boxer," he stated.

Jake Paul's Background

Paul - who initially became famous on the Disney Channel - has mainly fought MMA fighters or past-their-prime fighters since turning professional.

He lost to Briton Fury in last year.

Commercial Attraction

Still, the relative newcomer is still one of the sport's greatest financial successes, consistently making substantial earnings.

Prediction and Confidence

The 28 year old anticipated a stoppage in the fourth or fifth round and claimed he would stop the highly-expected Joshua–Fury fight, which is reportedly being planned for two years from now.

"It will be my match with Fury next year," Paul stated.

Size Disparity

As the two fighters participated in the usual confrontation, with their height and weight contrast clearly visible, it highlighted just how unlikely this whole event is - and how remarkable it is that the fight is actually happening.
